Mission of the Month – September 2020 – Hands on Haiti

Michigan Hands on Haiti was created in 2016 by Jennifer Kubit, Crystal Green, and Denise Gosselin. It was formed after each of the founders had visited Haiti on mission trips with Cross of Christ and developed a passion for the country and the people of Haiti.

Crystal took a solo trip to Haiti in 2011,  where she was introduced to the children at the Children’s Dream Center and to Pastor Mario. She fell in love with the children there and was inspired by Pastor Mario’s passion and dedication to helping the children in his community. The very first project that was completed at the orphanage was the installation of new, working bathrooms and a functional kitchen. This project was funded by the generous donations of the members of Cross of Christ.

Since this very first project, Michigan Hands on Haiti has been able to help the orphanage build a garden wall, plant that garden within the wall, aided in relief after natural disasters, painted the orphanage, and built new beds for the children. In addition to these “in person” projects, Hands on Haiti has been able to provide an education, clean water and food, medical care, school supplies and uniforms, and many other necessities to the children of the Dream Center. We have also been fortunate enough to be able to assist the community through rice distributions.
