Tristan Waechter has been working at Cross of Christ since May of 2022. He moved into his full-time role as Director of Faith Formation near the end of September 2022. He is thrilled to be serving a congregation that loves Jesus and loves others. He really enjoys his new position, especially working with the middle school and high school youth at Cross of Christ. Tristan is passionate about sharing his faith with others and watching people grow deeper in relationship with Jesus Christ.
Prior to working at CoC, Tristan was a multi-sport student athlete at Concordia University. He played hockey and tennis there, graduating in May of 2022 with his bachelor’s degree. He was also blessed with the opportunity to play minor league professional hockey in Delaware, before returning back to Concordia to finish out his final semester. He is currently playing semi-professionally for a team in nearby Waterford, and working on a Master’s degree in Social Work online through Spring Arbor University. He is interning with “Acts 2 Enterprises”, a ministry developed by staff members of Bethany Lutheran Church and Charity Lutheran Church, ministering to and serving the various needs of people living on Detroit’s East Side.
In his downtime, Tristan is an avid reader. He loves diving into and analyzing Holy Scripture. He also loves reading a variety Christian authors from current writers such as Max Lucado, Tim Keller and Jon Piper, to legendary theologians like C.S. Lewis, Augustine and Martin Luther. He is also an avid sports fan, rooting for Detroit’s professional sports teams and the University of Michigan’s college teams. Go Blue!
