Serving the Church

Serving the Church

Living out the love of Jesus propels us to give with our hearts, minds, hands and feet.  Active members of our church are known for their volunteerism.  We enjoy the comradery and spiritual satisfaction.  Have a look at what’s currently underway and join us—just call the church office at 248.646.5886 and we’ll get you connected with the right person.  We’re always open to new ideas.  Please call us if you want to do something different or need help to start a new idea.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Ad Hoc Needs – Many needs arise throughout the year.  We can always use a hand.  For example:  from time to time we need clerical help in the church office, we also have some DIY projects that need fixing around the building and if you have a green thumb let us know—there are always seasonal things to do with the landscaping.  Just call the office to find out what needs doing and we’ll get you connected.

Group Events – We have several “annual events” throughout the year that give us the opportunity to ban together to make a difference.  For example:  Summer of Acts (June – Aug), Antique Show (Oct) Donation Day of Thanks (Nov) Christmas Program (Dec).  Give the church office a call and we’ll give you more info.

Hanging of the Greens – Every year we get together mid-November to decorate for the Christmas Season.  This is an all-out full court press that requires many hands.  We erect the 30ft Christmas Tree, Set-up the Manger & Nativity Set on Telelgraph, hang huge wreaths, garland & lights plus a whole host of other things.  We also prepare the Sanctuary for the Annual Christmas Program which means erecting the stage.

Christmas Un-Decorating – All that goes up must come down – and we need just as much help to tear-down the stage and then take down all of the decorations.

Worship Team – We are looking to add instrumentalists with the following skills to our group: Guitar players (moderate skill level in rhythm guitar), bass player (average skill), percussionists (will train for an instrument cornucopia…djembe, bongos, eggshaker, rain stick, claves, cabasa, tambourine, finger bells, and more!). If you are – or know of – folks who would enjoy playing with a genuinely GREAT group of people and playing some INSPIRING music, please complete/pass along this worship team questionnaire and connect with Bob Alexander, Director of Worship.

Youth – One of the most important things in the life of a student is having positive, Christian adults supporting them. Whether you have a lot of time to give or only occasional, a desire to work directly with students or behind the scenes, we’d love to help you find your place in encouraging and building up our students in the love of Jesus. So this is your invitation: Please prayerfully consider this awesome opportunity. If you need some direction, check out 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Remember, God can use ANYBODY!  Contact Youth Director Beth Marshall for a Volunteer Application if this is where God is leading you or if you just want some more information on the cool things we do in our Youth programs.

Mission Activities – We have an active Mission Team who meets regularly to discern ways in which our church can reach out in the community and support other not-for-profits in achieving their mission and purpose.
