Haiti 2015 Friday… Wahoo! Beach!

Hi all! Today the team went to Wahoo Bay beach. The ocean was breathtaking. The mountains in the background were beautiful. It was about an hour drive from the hotel. Going through the towns was incredible. It was market day and people were up and down the streets selling goods. At the beach we went scuba diving and some of us went jet skiing. Denise collected beautiful sea shells on the shore of the beach. For lunch we had crab and lobster caught…

Haiti 2015 Thursday….Successful Soccer Tournament (with Goats)

Today was amazing because we had a Soccer tournament. There were eight teams including us. We lost to the champions so that has to count for something. We bought goats for every team and they were so happy. The smiles we brought to their faces were cherished greatly. Then, there was Sean’s Jesus Speech  during the tournament and it was incredible. Very inspirational and joyful.  Tomorrow we get to go to the beach and hopefully make many more wonderful memories. I would also…

Haiti 2015 Wednesday…Perfect Days with Kids

These past few days have been perfect. Today was orphanage day which is typically an emotionally rough day. The Sisters of Mercy Orphanage was our first stop. Today was an unusually busy day there. So many parents and other mission teams were there also which was amazing to see. I ended up being upstairs with the older children and met some of the happiest and joyful children that I have ever met- which is saying a lot because Haitians are…

Haiti 2015 Wednesday…Emotional Roller Coaster

Author:  Teresa Serowoky Our time in Haiti continues to bless us in so many ways.  Our morning started at sisters of Mercy’s orphanage.  We walk into room number 1 filled with many ill babies/hooked up to IV’s.   We continued our way through the play yard where parents were visiting their children.  Our love for these children begins with our team scattering throughout the rooms holding babies or playing with the children.  A bell sounds and it is time for the parents…

Haiti 2015 Tuesday…. Hard Work, Emotions, and Smiles

Haiti….. This is a country that never ceases to amaze me. It brings out all emotions and forces you to adapt to many different situations. Every day I am here, I grow to love this country more. Whether its holding a Haitian baby or getting a simple smile, it makes this trip worth it 1 million times over. Today was another day of hard work and emotions. I look forward to the days to come and to wait and see…

Haiti 2015 Monday….Soccer, Food, and Fun!

Hello everyone! This is Julia Kalusniak, the youngest member of  the Haiti mission team. Today was our second day in the beautiful country of Haiti and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Even though my roommates and I overslept, we had a wonderful breakfast prepared by the incredibly kind hotel staff and I led a devotion in the morning before we left for the day. We went to a Haitian school first and the headmaster  gave us a tour. He showed us the classrooms for each grade and pictures…

Orphanage Visits

Good Evening, This morning we visited the catholic orphanage in Port Au Prince.  God’s blessings were abundant in this place, as we all smiles from the children.  It was a hard task as there were more babies than we could possibly hold.  Towards the end of our visit there we were allowed to feed the children, which I am told was not allowed in the past.  This was a moment that touched our whole group emotionally, as well as physically,…

Pooshups! Pooshups! Pooshups!

Overall a great day to spread the word of Christ with others and play soccer with the Haitians. The soccer camps went great today and we hope they continue to be great. The team saw some very good players as well as some tough and courageous plays. We played some very exiting and physical games today and got beat, but it was very close and fun. The team had to do many pushups today and many of us will feel…

Soccer Camp: Day One

Hello from Haiti! Let me start by saying that we are all healthy and safe after our first workday. We’ve had a few tummy-aches here and there (which are being well-managed thanks to some antibiotics and Tums), but rest assured that the team is doing wonderfully. We started the day with breakfast and devotionals, and were on our way to Leogon (the village we were to serve) by eight am. The ride was nearly two hours long, which was shorter…

Haiti Team Has Safely Arrived in Port Au Prince

Hi Family and Friends, Praise God!!!! God is faithful!!!!! Thank you for your prayers! God brought us safely to Port Au Prince and we have checked in to the hotel, the Palm Inn. There were a few adventures along the way, one of which was a 4am wakeup to get to the Miami Airport. Our Miami hotel even provided breakfast and an earlier than normal ride to the airport for us!  For our flight from Miami to Port Au Prince today we…
